Site Updates, Trading Updates and other tid bits

Posted by Aegist on April 25th, 2008

Well it has been a long time since I have made a general update posting here, so I might as well make one now.

There are 3 or so new alert services on the market, and I will be adding them to the alert service page very soon, as well as the removal of AusSoft, the very expensive upfront payment alert service - their website is offline now and no information is available about how their clients fare without an active company maintaining the software…

I am also actively trading once again now that I have managed to get some more free time during trading hours. This is motivating me to do more work on the site and particularly in SureBetBookies. I hope to work on and complete the arbitrage section of SAG sometime over the next few months (after a year of promises…) and also plan to work on adding more bookmakers to the SureBetBookies database. I also intend to add the new alert service to the database, so that will allow people to compare the bookmakers across the newer alerts.

That being said, if any alert service vendors want a current review of their software, then I am able to do that once again (having funded bookmakers and the time to actually watch the software, work with it, learn it, and place the trades). So if anyone alert service admins would like me to review their software, please email me and we’ll discuss the details.

Shane

A New Sports Arbitrage Year

Posted by Aegist on January 5th, 2008

Hello everyone. After a few weeks of no posting thanks to the holiday season and other commitments, I return with a posting overloaded with announcement, news and new alert services. We have a couple of announcements from OddsAndBets and ArbExpert, plus three new alert services just added to the alert services page: ArbSafe, Odds1×2 and BetWinners.

OddsAndBets

The OddsAndBets promotion is still pumping along so don’t forget to take full advantage of it. Four months worth of significantly discounted alerts is a great deal, and worth its weight in gold. Use the Sports Arbitrage Guide link to OddsAndBets, and enter the special discount promo code as described in the full original article to get your discount.

ArbExpert

ArbExpert, as always continued to grow and add new features to its service. They recently added Handicap middle, Over/Under middles and Spread middles to their service, plus they are in the process of beta testing Total middles - all of which will increase the value of their service significantly. I have no doubt that ArbExpert will continue to grow and make a name for itself as one of the market leaders in the Arbitrage alert services
industry.

ArbSafe, Odds1×2 and BetWinners added to Arbitrage Alert Services Page

Three new services added. Odds1×2 is an odds comparison service which offers a completely free surebet service which has received some positive comments from the crowd at ArbForum. it is certainly no where near the same level as the higher alert services, but as far as free services go, it appears to be pretty good, and very easy to use.

ArbSafe has recently started an email and SMS based alert service. Charging £45 per month for the Email and SMS version (£25 for just Emails). They have a large list of bookmakers and promise around 170 arbs per month, but beyond that I don’t really have much information on them yet. I have been in email contact with the owner so I expect to find out more in the coming weeks.

BetWinners was an interesting addition to the world of Alert Services. Busting onto the scene in a random forum post on ArbForum, I have never seen a website so ‘well constructed’ yet completely unintelligible for all of the spelling and grammatical errors. It is only £8.99 per month (why not just make it £9? or even £10) and that includes a members area where ‘other money making ideas are posted’ and access to “Million Dollar Emails” - where you can attempt to re-sell e-books which I can only presume the original author failed to sell, so decided to flog it off on to other people to see if they could sell it for him. The members area even comes with ‘XXX Links’. Classy. I guess that explains what arbers are supposed to do with the spare time between arbs…

I am intrigued to see where BetWinners will end up, but I think I can already guess.

Blog Subscription Service

Posted by Aegist on April 16th, 2007

Subscription service changed from RSSPect to Feedburner because the RSSPect method of syndication, as cleverly elegant as it is, just doesn’t work well with the wordpress php. So new list setup, and I am reasonably confident that this one will work (since Feedburner syndication has been working well for the last year).

So, feel free to start registering for updates!

Newsletter Update and Other Site Improvements

Posted by Aegist on April 15th, 2007

I have been working non stop on so many different aspects of the site lately that there have been quite a lot of improvements and hopefully they will be appreciated. If anyone has comments, please mention them in the forums or email me, I’m always interested in feedback and user ideas!

First of all, welcome to our new Newsletter! I have wanted to set up a good solid newsletter since I started the change over from the old website design to the new design you are all familiar with now. So, i set up a newsletter registration, but thanks to more issues than are worth mentioning, it seemed like a bad idea to continue with that newsletter system. Instead I have decided to make better use of this blog aspect of the website and better integrate syndication so that every visitor can now very easily register for updates from the here. If you scroll down to the bottom of this page you will find a text box. Enter your email address, check your email, click on a verification link…and you are subscribed! Easy as that. And it is all handled by RSSPect, so you know your email is completely 100% absolutely no doubts spam free no selling safe. Other options also include adding it to your Google Personalised homepage (I’ve done both), or Yahoo, MSN etc. It can actually be added to any form of syndication, but they are usually the easiest and most popular.

So register to this blog, now the ‘News and Articles’ section, and you will be kept in the loop completely with regards to Arbitrage Trading news, relevant online gambling news, and important SAG/SBB website news.

Specific Website Changes

Other changes around SAG include the addition of a Link Exchange submission form. So anyone who has a website who wants a link from SAG is free to enter their details and request an exchange. See the Link Exchange page for more details.

The navigation column menu is being improved slightly, so that you always know where you are in the scheme of the website progression. The advertising has been switched back to Google Adsense, since it seemed more people were interested in the topic relevant text links that the banner advertising. And I have finally managed to finish the Bookmakers Selection page (thanks to finally finishing SBB) and I have added a ‘Work At Home‘ page, to express the benefits of Sports Arbitrage Trading as a work at home job. I think I spend so much time on this site telling everyone how to be careful, and what mistakes to watch out for etc, that everyone who visits gets the impression that Sports Arbitrage Trading is a death trap full of certain peril. That really isn’t the case at all, it is just worth the effort to be wary of all of the possible mistakes, so that it can be as easy and cruisy as it should be. Once you have all of the bases covered, there really isn’t any better mechanism for making money from home at your own pace than Sports Arbitrage Trading.

I’m actually going to write an article on working at home as an arbitrage trader soon.

Sports Arbitrage Guide Newsletter #1 - 2 April 2007

Sports Arbitrage Guide Newsletter #1

2 April 2007

SureBetBookies Has Been Released!

After many months of figuring out exactly how to achieve the goals of the SureBetBookies database, then months of coding and months of changing my mind, and eventually a period of refinement, SureBetBookies is actually live and open to the public.

We aren’t completely finished yet, and it may not happen for a long time yet (we only have 40 entries in it out of more than 200 to come) but we have started with the more crucial bookmakers and we are dutifully working on collecting data on more bookies all of the time. We will also be adding a “How to use this database” page soon which will no doubt be of help, but for now you will find explanation for each field in the database just by hovering over the column title.

So get over to SureBetBookies straight away and start playing with the various searches, filters and sorting methods you can use to find the best bookmaker for your betting practice.

Not-Arbitrage Focused

One thing which I think is worth noting about the new SureBetBookies directory is that it has not been designed ‘for arbitrage’. Now don’t let that confuse you, if you are trading sports arbitrage, then the SureBetBookies database will be the best tool you have come across; end of story. But the functionality we have built into this database makes it incredibly useful to any professional or recreational gambler. It provides a host of specific details about every bookmaker which can’t be easily found anywhere else, and some of the information, like bonuses amounts, sports rules, deposit methods, user comments and bookmaker relationships are just as useful to a recreational gambler as they are to professional gamblers as they are to arbitrage traders.

What does this mean for you? It means that the few sportsbooks who really do not like arbitrage traders have no reason to suspect visitors from SureBetBookies.com are anything other than good quality traffic. We will be advertising SureBetBookies on gambling forums, on gambling information sites, we will be receiving traffic from betting portals, social networking sites and social bookmarks. SureBetBookies has been designed to meet the precise needs of the sports arbitrage trader, while still keeping with the fact that an arbitrage trader never wants to be recognized as an arbitrage trader.

So in the interest of ensuring SureBetBookies is recognized as a sportsbook database for everyone and not as a portal just for arbitrage traders, you can actually help out by using the social website buttons provided on each page to ‘Digg’, ‘Stumble’, vote for, and bookmark SureBetBookies, thus bringing it out into the wider community. This will help SureBetBookies greatly, and it will help the arb traders get lost in the general mix of gamblers, just like all arb traders want.

Other News

Neteller Update

As most will already be aware, Neteller have been in court proceedings for quite some time now with regards to its activities in the US with gambling. The proceedings are ongoing and the impact is still being felt. For a rather thorough discussion on the matter, see this 72+ page long thread at 2+2 forums on the topic. The most recent changes include reduced service to Canada and reduced service to Turkey.

There is no reason to fear the safety of your money with Neteller. I personally still use them because they are still a pivotal part of the community, but I have started moving more and more of my accounts over to Moneybookers where possible, and I recommend the same to everyone.

See the bookmakers which accept Neteller.

Sports Punter 25% Discount for New Accounts

As previously mentioned in the Sports Arbitrage Guide blog, SportsPunter is offering a 25% discount to all new members. SportsPunter is a great service for experienced arb traders as it finds many arbs which most alert services just don’t look for. If you are dedicated to arbing for the long term, then I highly recommend taking full advantage of this offer and simply registering for a whole year. At only $510 USD for the whole year, minus 25% equals only $382.5… That is what most other services which get far fewer arbs charge for 3 months! And you will get one of the best services in the marketplace for a whole year.

If you are trading sports arbs, you’d have to be crazy to not take advantage of that.

See the bookmakers used by SportsPunter in the SBB Directory.

ArbExpert Re-launch

After a few weeks of time offline, ArbExpert re-launched mid way through March and extended their free period until the 25th of March. In the downtime they added BetFair to their service and made moves to add BetDaq (which has subsequently been added). The biggest change they have made though is to drop their registration price to £50 per month, precisely half of the original cost.

If you missed out on the free period, then you can still take out one of the trial periods.

If you want to register with ArbExpert, then be sure to mention Sports Arbitrage Guide as where you heard about ArbExpert from!

See the bookmakers used by SportsPunter in the SBB Directory.

Nickel Vacuum Changes

I have been in communication with Adam From Nickel Vacuum also and he has advised me of a number of improvements and changes to the Nickel Vacuum program. More sports and bet types have been added, thus greatly increasing the number of arbs found by their service. A few changes have also been made to the user interface, filters and alerts on the site.

See more details on the Nickel Vacuum website.

Tell your friends about the SAG Newsletter – Forward this email

If you have any friends who are looking into Sports Arbitrage or might be interested, then please forward this Newsletter to them and tell them to register as well! This newsletter will never become annoying because it will only be sent when there is something important to say and it will only ever report things interesting to people involved in sportsbook scalping and sports betting arbitrage.

Also, it has come to my attention that the Verification email that is sent out when you register for this newsletter is often directed into the Spam box. Please be sure to warn people who are trying to register that there will be a verification letter sent out as soon as they register, and if they don’t get it straight away, check their spam mail box for it and mark it as “Not Spam”.

Thanks for reading our first newsletter, and I look forward to many more to come!
