News – General, website, arbitrage and gambling news

Posted by Aegist on March 14th, 2007

It has been a long time in the coming but SureBetBookies will be ready very shortly, and it will blow your minds. I mean, seriously, everything which everyone has been looking for all of this time, in one spot. I am so excited about it, I can’t wait to release it. But I’m not going to tell you any more than that because I think the surprise will be worth it. The functionality everyone will get out of this will just amaze you to bits.

As soon as it is ready i will send out Sports Arbitrage Guide’s first newsletter ever to announce it. There will be several other news stories in it too which I have been accumulating. I am dedicated to only using the newsletter to announce big, important, or intensely interesting things. And the final release of the SureBetBookies database will be all three of those.

In general gambling news, it continues to amaze me as more and more bookmakers are exiting the US market. Pinnacle, then VIP…. I never thought they would go, but there you have it, neither of them are taking players from the USA anymore. And that was their target audience. Expecially VIP, they don’t even offer many sports outside of the Northern US sports! There have been concerns raised about whether VIP can survive with its structure, marketing and design aimed at the USA, yet not taking anyone from USA OR Canada! Now don’t over-react to this statement, VIP is an incredibly stable book and I have no doubt that your money is as safe with them as it can be online, but over the long term, it is hard to imagine them maintain enough profitability to stay afloat.

I think the removal of the USA from online gambling has been a bit of a double edged sword for the scalpers out there. I don’t know if I am imagining this or not, but I think the removal of the arbers from the USA has resulted in longer lasting arbs… but if it also results in the loss of some of the biggest bookmakers, then we are in real trouble. I’m not sure of Pinnacle Sports’ demographic, but I have no doubt that the majority of their customers were American. It was no doubt a huge decision on their behalf to move away from that market… I sincerly hope, as I am sure everyone else does, that nothing about Pinnacle changes as a result of this.

As if that wasn’t enough, there was the news about Neteller freezing US accounts while the FBI investigated them. We seem to be stuck in the middle of one of the craziest times for online gambling and sports arbitrage.
