SportsPunter and BetBrain Arbitrage Alert Services Compared

Posted by Aegist on October 17th, 2006

Zacharias Yiallouros is a regular user of SAG, our forums and my own personal knowledge and he has now done us a huge favour in return by taking the time to compare the relative advantages and disadvantages of the two arbitrage alert services offered by the odds comparison  websites SportsPunter and BetBrain.

This is his own personal experience of the two services from consistent use over successive one month trials of each and may not necessarily be true for all people, but will certainly help people get a better idea of what each service is like before choosing.
For a quick description of each service see our general alert services page at http://www.sportsarbitrageguide.com/providers.html which will also give you the prices for each of these services.

Thank you very much for allowing me to publish this on the site Zack, and I hope your arbing profits continue to grow!
Shane

As I promised I’ll outline the advantages/disadvantages between Betbrain and Sportspunter:

Sportspunter (Advantages over Betbrain)
Considerably more arbs
Refresh Browser
Filtering of rules
Showing the age of arbs
Arb alarm

Betbrain (Advantages over Sportspunter)
Much better layout of text, boxes and lighter colours. This makes it less likely to pick the wrong arbs/Game. Sportspunter website is a bit obscure. In general a more pleasant to look at and follow website.

Much better customer service; they always get back to you on whatever queries. Sportspunter were getting back to me before I took out a subscription, they were even keen to provide me with 3 days before the payment would go through but after I took out a subscription they never bothered. This was very disappointing after the nice comments I read about them. I only had queries about the time they use and the filtering of bookies. Nothing too complex.

Not so many wrong arbs. A vast number of Sportspunter arbs are a 2-way with one bookie and 3-way with another. This makes the ‘arb’ (not really an arb) look very profitable around 10 to 20%. Luckily an obvious error. Another error of Sportspunter is mapping odds on the same bookmaker eg. Labrokes to Labrokes. I never bothered to check arbs like that. They are possibly 1X2 and the software picks the 12. Trivial mistake as it can’t have potential victims.

Conclusion: As the most important thing of all is getting more arbs I would say that sportspunter offers a far better value for money. Sportspunter’s subscriptioln for a month costs only a little bit more than betbrain’s expert subscription but they find far more arbs with less delay. Over a year it works out cheaper than Betbrain. I definetely prefer Sportspunter over Betbrain.
Regards
Zack
